What is PTO?

pto 2

We hope you had a relaxing summer.  Perhaps you have heard about our group from different fundraisers or in the school’s newsletter, but are unsure of exactly what we do.

PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization, and consists of parents and teachers working together to support and enrich all students.  We support school staff, help promote student self-esteem, and assist in efforts to solve school needs through volunteers and monetary funding.  The PTO is a team effort in which we cannot succeed on our own.  The PTO would like to encourage every parent and/or guardian to take a step into the school and observe your child soaring to new heights!

We don’t expect a huge time commitment from volunteers.  An hour can be a big help to our group and the school, and we have positions and tasks to fit all schedules and interests.  Just let us know whether a program, event, or activity interests you and when you might be free to help.  (You don’t even have to come to the school or attend a meeting to be involved, although we would really like to meet you personally!)

Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have better grades and fewer discipline problems.  Involvement at the school also makes it easier to establish friendships with teachers and other parents.  We promise that the time you give our group and the school will be worth your while–and fun!

Feel free to email [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.  Together, we can make a difference at our school!
