Get ready for the 13th annual Aaron Hunter, St. Jude Cuddle Compassion Day!
Please join us in showing two of our core values during the month of December – hope and compassion. For those of you who are new to our school family, every year, we take a special day to cuddle up in our pajamas and show compassion for the children of St. Jude. This event began 14 years ago when a student, Aaron Hunter was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Our school community pulled together around the holiday season to help this family in need. Aaron passed away on December 10, 2004 (that year’s cuddle compassion day) and Mayor Dave Ransburg issued a proclamation declaring December 10 as Aaron Hunter Cuddle Compassion Day in Peoria. As we honor the children of St. Jude, we show compassion and give thanks for every healthy child in our community. We will be taking donations for St. Jude on December 15th, cuddle compassion day. On this special day all students and staff will cuddle up in their pajamas. Many classrooms do read-ins and this year, we have a very special card-making project we will be doing school-wide for the children and families of St. Jude. I thank you in advance for your donations and support. Last year we raised over $1000 for the children of St. Jude. Our goal this year is BOLD – let’s hit $1500!!! It means so much to the families of the children of St. Jude and we hope that we can help researchers find a cure for childhood cancer.
